prepare for your Brazilian wax appointment

Brazilian Waxing FAQ

How do I prepare for my first Bikini/Brazilian wax? You're going to love it... don't worry. Getting your first wax down there can certainly bring on some nerves. That is normal. Just remember, we are professionals. We have seen it all and we are here to guide you through the entire process. Here are some tips to help you feel more comfortable heading into your first Brazilian Wax. - Gently exfoliate the area TWO days before your service. (Do NOT exfoliate the day of your waxing). - Take a shower/bath with warm or cool water to soften your hair and open up the pores. Avoid taking a hot shower as it raises your body temperature. - Avoid caffeine/alcohol 2-4 hours before your appointment. - You can take an Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment. - Wear loose clothing and cotton panties to your appointment, or go without! - Drink lots of water! - Come in a bit early so you can relax before your appointment. Remember self care is a form of self love!

How old do you have to be to wax? For all services, you must be at least 18 years of age. If you are a minor with specific questions, please feel free to give us a call.

I am a bit self-conscious of my body... That is normal. You are human and everyone has parts they aren't madly in love with. But you are perfect just as you are. We totally understand this and rest assured that we are 100% focused on providing the best experience possible and 0% focused on judging your body. Remember self-care is a form of self-love. Treat yourself... your body is beautiful! If you are feeling shy about exposing yourself for the first time please know that this is something we have been doing for a long time. We have seen nearly everything you can imagine. Hemorrhoids, sensitive skin, thick hair, grey hair, ingrown hairs... all are welcome.

How long should I go between waxing appointments? Between 4 and 6 weeks is an average length of time between waxing. This is basically one hair growth cycle. Keep in mind everyone is unique, so you may be able to go less time or more time in between. This is especially true as you become more consistent with your waxing. The hair will begin to regrow more slowly and it will likely be more fine or softer as it regrows if you are consistently waxing. Consistency is key when maintaining your Brazilian wax. So, be sure to keep it up even if you don't have "that much hair."

How long should my hair be before my waxing appointment? For optimal results, we recommend your hair be at least 1/4th inch long. Ideally, this at least 3-4 weeks of hair growth if you are coming in for the first time or haven't been waxed in awhile. You should be able to pull up and lift the hair away from the skin using your fingers. Don't worry about trimming... the longer the better!

Does waxing hurt? What can I expect afterwards? Anytime you remove hair from the root, it is going to be uncomfortable. Our wax specialists do anything and everything possible to minimize your discomfort. We will check in with you multiple times throughout your service, and make sure you are doing alright. If you need to take a small break without any pulls, we encourage you to speak up. We want to make this as pleasant of an experience for you as humanly possible. Your first wax is ALWAYS going to be the most intense. We advise you to continue waxing, as it truly does get better and easier the more frequently you visit! Caring for your skin before and after the appointment is helpful to minimizing discomfort. Here are some tips: - Drinking caffeine and being dehydrated will shrink and tighten up your pores. So, be sure to avoid caffeine 2 or more hours before your appointment and drink plenty of water before and after. - After your appointment avoid touching your freshly waxed skin (it is hard, we know)! The less you touch it the more likely it is to stay clean and allow your pores to close without trapping any dirt from your hands. - Avoid being intimate in any way down there for 24 hours so your pores have a chance to close and help you be less prone to discomfort from friction. - Do not exfoliate for a couple days after your wax. Simply keep your freshly waxed skin clean and use the after care products we discuss at your appointment. Taking care to keep the waxed areas clean and moisturized - and eventually exfoliated regularly - will help prevent ingrown hairs and discomfort as the grow out period begins. Also, timing is a big deal... 2 days before or after your period you will be most sensitive to the waxing. You can take an Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment to help if you like.

Can I get a Brazilian or Bikini Wax if I am pregnant? Yes, of course! It is perfectly safe. However, we please ask that you consult with your provider to make sure there are no concerns. If you are interested in a Brazilian wax before you deliver your baby then we would encourage you to consider coming several times before you are due instead of just once. When you are pregnant (as you may know!) there is extra sensitivity down there and since your first wax is always going to be the most painful, we suggest having a consistent regimen throughout your pregnancy. Of course, please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Can I wax during that time of month? Absolutely! For sanitary reasons, we will only be able to wax you with a clean tampon inserted prior to the start of your service, or if a menstrual cup is used. Please call, or text us with any questions. Just remember, you are most sensitive 2 days before and 2 days after your menstrual cycle.

What kind of wax do you use? We are fully trained in both hard and soft wax. We use the highest quality wax available. We also take into consideration skin and hair types and have soy wax, low temperature waxes, non-polymer hard wax, film wax, and vegan wax. Our expertise informs which wax we use, but we are always available to answer any questions and consult before your appointment begins or at the time of booking -- never hesitate to reach out!

Can my child/children come with me to my appointment? While we LOVE children, the answer is no. This includes babies/infants. We will be unable to begin your appointment with your child present unless there is another adult able to watch them while you are receiving your service. You may not leave your child unattented in our waiting room or on the premise regardless of their age. If you are unable to keep your appointment because of child care concerns we do understand. Life does happen! However, we still require that you respect our cancellation policy.

Can I wax while I am on medications such as oral acne medications, acne prescription cream, or antibiotics? No. Please be aware that waxing on certain acne medications or creams may cause skin irritation, skin lifting, or skin burns. This is VERY serious and you MUST disclose if you take any of the following medications listed below prior to your set reservation. Discontinue use 7-days before AND after waxing if you take any of the following medications: Retin-A, Adapalene, Alustra Avage, Avita, Clindamycin, Differin, Duac, Epiduo, Isotretinoin, Renova, Tazarac, Tazarotene, Tretinoin, Ziana Stop using 1-year prior to waxing: Accutane. *Must provide a doctors note to perform waxing service* IF YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT ANY OF THESE MEDICATIONS/CREAMS, PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR DERMATOLOGIST BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

Do you wear gloves? Yes, absolutely. Your health and well being are our top priority. Wearing gloves and following the most strict hygenic standards protects everyone.

Do you "double dip"? Absolutely not. Your health and wellbeing are our top priority and we would never behave in such a way that would compromise that. We use a new stick for every application of wax. There are never situations where it will be acceptable for us to stray from the most hygenic protocols.
