Uncover the Benefits & Why Regular Waxing is More Than Just Hair Removal

It's no surprise that I am a huge advocate of waxing as a way to make your beauty routine easier. I find myself constantly sharing with clients that consistency is key in being able to reap all of the benefits of waxing down under. Many people just don't know about everything that goes on when you maintain a consistent Brazilian or Bikini Waxing routine and why to choose Brazilian waxing over other methods of removing the hair... allow me to help unpack all questions!
We are not only removing the hair with each pull of the wax strip, we are actually weakening the hair follicle.
Waxing removes the hair from the root, which weakens the follicle over time. Repeatedly pulling out hair from the root disrupts the follicle's ability to regenerate hair as quickly or as strongly resulting in a finer and slower regrowth.
When you are coming in regularly to wax then your hair follicles are caught in a constant state of regrowth.
As mentioned above, when we wax, we are weakening the follicle. This happens because we are removing the hair at its root. So... that means the follicle needs to restart the growth cycle after every wax, which takes time. More time than if you were simply shaving (because when you shave, you are not removing the hair from the root, only the surface, so the growth cycle is not disrupted or slowed).
The bonus of consistent hair waxing is that the hair that does grow back is thinner and more fine than the hair you started with.
Said another way, your consistent removal of hair at the root will leave you with hair that regrows more slowly and more finely. Resist the urge to extend your time between waxing appointments though... a hair cycle still takes between 4-6 weeks which is the normal time frame we encourage clients to book their next appointment. If you wait longer than 4-6 weeks the your hair will become rerooted leading to the hair to resume its growth. The sweet spot is 4-6 weeks to avoid hair rerooting AND for there to be less sensation when the hair is removed in your appointment (since the hair never rerooted in between your appointments).
After an extended period of time waxing every 4-6 weeks, clients might experience their regrowth not coming in consistently or even at all - leaving some areas with very sparse regrowth. This is simply the result of the continuous disruption of the hair growth cycle by weakening the follicle by removing the hair at the root.
Ultimately, over time waxing can truly reduce the overall volume and coarseness of your hair as it regrows.
